Home away |
I have finalised the
last details for my
trip to Brazil in
August/September.
Between my duties as
prodigal son and
catching up with
friends, I want to
spend some time in
my hometown and
rediscover the
beauty of Porto
Alegre. I love that
city... Porto Alegre
is not just an
amazing place which
all we Gauchos love
and care for so
much, but an
important cultural
and financial centre
for the Latin
American South Cone.
Capital of Pampas
and Capital of Rio
Grande do Sul...
Land of Farrapos...
I miss you so much.
Besides the family
commitments, I want
to dedicate an
enormous amount of
quality time with my
parents, sister and
brother... To have
some laughs with my
grandparents and to
once more see the
amazing sunsets that
my city, among other
things, is famous
for. I also have an
important mission:
to evaluate Porto
Alegre's capacity to
provide the same
income and lifestyle
that my Auckland
City does. Funnily
enough, I am aware
that I will never be
complete and my
heart will be always
divided between
these two places.
Unfortunately, PJ
has to stay in New
Zealand due to
professional
commitments but we
are certainly
planning another
trip to Brazil in
November next year.
She will love the
country and it's
people, I am sure.
For the above
reasons, I won't be
posting anything
after the 07 of
August. More in
September... Hasta!

The

has a new exhibition starting from

mysteries of your museum is a night quest through the
dark corridors and rooms of the institution that
normally is not accessible to the public. PJ and I

West
Coast Brewery shares |
For a while now I have
been tempted to invest on the
West Coast brewery products after hearing the
Director, Patty Sweeney on
NewstalkZB a few weeks ago. This Brewery main
product is the Fern natural beer, a natural lager that
won New Zealand's best for the last three years. The
problem will be to
compete against the
new Steinlager Pure.
I can see the increase for organic beers consumption on
a short term if the prices can be matched to industrial
productions of today's lagers. People are seeking
healthier alternatives every possibility available and
alcohol is just a question of time. Investing on
the best is a safe option I believe and since New
Zealand is a beer country, it certainly has a market to
be explored not just here but in Australia also.
Patty seems to be the man for the job and I will put
some dollars and play around. If I don't get my
investment back in profit, at least it will happen
through beer on shareholder's meetings a few times per
year. The West Coast Brewery already owns a decent
PUB down south and is developing another one in Auckland
very soon... As a future PUB/Beer factory owner I only
have to gain.
Green Fern beer: Bottle, a fair bit of carbonation in
the bright golden colour with no head whatsoever. A
strong sweet malty aroma, slightly buttery. A creamy
palate with a more drying finish. Mostly malty creamy
flavours, with more hops in the finish. Pure
organic. New Zealand's best.

Opera
at the Auckland Museum |
Recently, PJ and I
attended to a night of Opera Cabaret at the
Auckland War Museum featuring singers from the
Opera Factory of Newmarket. The evening was
well organised by the Museum Circle of Friends, a
independent charitable trust and patrons of arts for the
Museum. The proceeds of this event in particular, went
to endowments fund established to acquisition of
permanent collections. Good cause.
Accompanied by friends visiting New Zealand and PJ's
parents the conciertos were well performed, even
through the Tenor Derek Hill was not on his best. Derek,
at least, fulfilled his promise of a good performance at
the end, with Nessum Dorma of Puccini's
Turandot.
I believe the night belonged to no less, Jesse Martins,
the Brazilian Pianist, and his performance of Non piu
andrai of Mozart's
the marriage of Figaro. a well performed
Mozart is hard to beat and the presentation was well
worth the ticket.

Derek Hill - Tenor
Catherine Reaburn - Mezzo
Benjamin Taylor - Baritone
Jesse Martins - Piano
